Because of the Private Health Insurance Act we cannot cover Emergency Transport (Ambulance) claims after 1 October 2010
Given the short notice IUS will indemnify any claimant for an Emergency Transport (Ambulance) claim for a period of three (3) months until 31 December 2010. This will be paid by IUS and not the Insurer.
If you wish to have ambulance cover you will need to arrange it privately.
In return for the discontinuance of the Emergency Transport cover we have increased the benefit payable in the event of Accidental Death from $2,500 to $20,000.
We have also introduced an Organ Donor Benefit. This will pay a benefit of $7,500 should a family member undergo an operation to donate an organ to an immediate relative who is in a life threatening situation.
These benefit changes will take effect from 1 October 2010.
See Policy Wording for further details.
